Three Simple Steps to Support Pride All Year Long
June 13, 2023
June is Pride Month. Beyond a chance to celebrate the uniqueness of the LGBTQIA+ community, it also provides an opportunity to reflect on how diversity has evolved and continues to develop within our society. The history of June as ‘Pride’ parallels that evolution: what began as a movement today recognises the resilience and determination of the many individuals – whether colleagues, friends, or family – who fought to live freely and authentically within our communities.
The themes of authenticity and community resonate at Elevate. Our company centers on collaboration – with colleagues, customers, and the legal ecosystem – and the best results flow from a safe and inclusive environment. Elevate’s anti-discrimination policies, hiring efforts, and internal dialogue help foster inclusion. Beyond the business benefits of those activities, they reflect our fundamental values as a company.
To show our support for the LGBTQAI+ community, this month, our corporate logo incorporates rainbow colours. However, inclusion means more than symbols and a month of awareness, remembrance, and celebration. This month and beyond, you can advance inclusion with simple actions:
Pause. Observe your workplace culture from the perspective of those who feel excluded.
Acknowledge. Allow meaningful opportunities for diverse and underrepresented voices to communicate and share as a first step toward addressing their concerns.
Support. Take action – personally and professionally – to ensure all members of your community feel valued and respected.
Through ongoing work and continuing focus, together, we can ensure that the spirit of Pride continues the entire year.
