Aderant’s recent 2020 Business of Law and Legal Technology Survey contains interesting insight into how the pandemic has redefined a “new normal” from the point of view of legal technology and finance leaders as well as the firms they support. Reading the survey through the lens of ElevateFlex, one thing stood out: well over half of the respondents expected to decrease investment in their real estate, ie., office space. In other words, firms are embracing remote working as part of that new normal. Consequentially, firms — who were previously committed to lawyer and paralegal resources physically located in high-cost markets — now may access a wealth of experienced, talented, “hit the ground running” professional resources located in less expensive locales.
ElevateFlex has years of experience helping law firms and law departments rapidly locate and enlist not only lawyers and paralegals of all experience levels and areas of practice but also legal operations professionals. We can add capacity for large projects and specialist expertise, provide coverage for family or other extended leave, enable secondments for clients when associates are fully utilized, or implement as part of a flexible resourcing strategy.
The pandemic’s impact on law firm IT budgets won’t just be a short-term affair. With more insights into how they work—and a greater appreciation for work flexibility—firms are likely to keep investing in tech-backed process improvement and cloud transitions for years to come, according to a new survey by legal business management software provider Aderant
