“Co-Optition” is Not a Bad Thing in the Legal Market

As LegalWeek wound down, legal glitterati opined on implications of blurred lines between law companies, ALSPs, and law firms. It was more of a question than a value judgment, but the implication was that these blurred lines will create tumult. Rhys Dipshan (@r_dipshan) raises a good point, but I feel that these blurred lines are a good thing.
Law firms are adding more value as they explore tech. ALSPs and law companies are adding more value as they move upstream in complexity. The result? Enable lawyers to practice more law, and companies to have their legal spend go further. What’s bad about that? I feel this ecosystem of ‘co-optition’ is not only sustainable but positive.
