Following initial conversations, it became clear that Elevate offered the opportunity to collaborate with multinational customers on interesting and high-quality assignments. As an experienced lawyer, the quality and complexity of work are the primary factors in agreeing to any assignment. Elevate offered both.

The opportunity to parachute into complex and highly matrixed organisations and hit the ground running on time-driven complex projects, whilst rapidly getting to know the organisation and assisting new colleagues to deliver for the organisation. You are there to immediately add value and support the internal teams which is immensely rewarding.

I particularly enjoy the opportunity to bring broad legal and commercial experience to finding novel and cost-effective solutions to complex problems. Additionally, working on cutting-edge projects such as nationalisations and international work with colleagues from global offices has been immensely rewarding.

Above all, I find the most engaging aspects of my work to be adapting solutions from a different legal skill set or industry sector to customer issues. I am also energised by working with new colleagues on demanding projects and building strong working relationships with them.

The variety of assignments facilitates continuous personal development, particularly staying current with developments in the law and gaining a keener eye for the nuances of the sector in which the customer operates.

Have confidence in your abilities, make an effort to reach out to your new colleagues early on, always remember you are there to help the customer’s business – and enjoy each assignment!
