The quest for legal operational excellence

legal tech legal technology legal operations legal transformation artifical intelligence

This article shares insights from the first annual meeting of CLOC (Corporate Legal Operations Consortium) in the UK last week.  The focus is on opportunities to use technology and particularly artificial intelligence to create efficiencies and replace archaic ways of working.

Lifting the lid on what takes up a lot of a lawyer’s time for the rest of the world to see can seem scary because we know deep down that proof reading and document reviews are not rocket science.  I am excited by the opportunities that will open up for the legal sector once we put our brains to much higher purpose work.

There is a whole new breed of roles in the legal sector to support this shift in behaviour and the introduction of supporting tech solutions.

…fundamentally, what CLOC is saying is that the time of letting inhouse teams off the efficiency hook are over. And AI systems – for the businesses at the right stage of development – just make sense as a solution.
