These two women started their own business law firm all the way back in 2004. But what’s really interesting is they were promoted to do so by a client who “was looking for a diverse law firm that better mirrored itself.”
“Kerin and I bought into the myth that the only way you could be a successful lawyer in a business community is if you were a member of a medium or large law firm and you made equity partner and you had control a bunch of clients,” Giffen said. “We discovered you could create firms where you could get all of that and you don’t have to worry about pushing the rock up the hill, which is trying to break into the boy’s club.”
