AI is an opportunity for smarter thinking and greater wisdom

November 02, 2017

This report highlights another piece of technology created that seemingly does a faster and more accurate job at analysing data and making a legal judgment than humans. Rather than being frightened of the possibilities of ‘machines’ replacing us, this points another little light st the opportunities for lawyers to evolve our own roles and the future development of the legal profession. Lawyers skilled in data science and critical thinking will I think be highly sought after.

Ian Dodd thinks AI may replace some of the grunt work done by junior lawyers and paralegals but no machine can talk to a client or argue in front of a High Court judge. He puts it simply: “The knowledge jobs will go, the wisdom jobs will stay.”And maybe the smartest, wisest lawyers will do what the Case Cruncher team have done – develop new uses for AI in the law.
