Like the author of this excellent article, Owen Kurtin, I don’t know if this e-mail is a hoax or not but it sounds like the sort of thing that might be true! Newlaw firms such as Halebury in the UK and Mr Kurtin’s boutique in the US are ideally placed to serve such clients in place of BigLaw
Well-known legal blog “Above the Law” (www.abovethelaw.com) posted on May 27, 2015 that a large national/international law firm had undertaken a program affirmatively to divest itself of its “smaller” (meaning lowest revenue producing) clients (see http://abovethelaw.com/2015/05/biglaw-firm-only-wants-big-clients). According to the blog, the firm’s chairperson distributed an e-mail to all firm attorneys asking them to attempt to terminate the firm’s relationship with all such clients within 30 days
