ING re-enters the UK market with a bank account consolidation app

ING joins the wave of FinTechs making use of APIs to offer value-added services to customers.
The app ‘integrates users’ bank accounts (even ones from its competitors) and provides tips and information about their accounts including when the next pay day is and what the customer’s balance is likely to be.
It almost makes you wonder what PSD2 is going to add and whether the Regulatory Technical Standards are going to facilitate or just get in the way?
This is the most recent example of fintech companies and banks making movements, preparing for EU’s PSD2’s rules to come into effect, mandating that banks open up customer account information to external parties.
